ERG EWSR1-ERG

EWSR1-ERG is found in 5% of patients with Ewing Sarcoma and considered to be diagnostic of this disease, a small tumor more often found in bone, but less frequently in soft tissue. To better identify EWSR1-ERG in patients, conventional cytogenetics methods were analyzed: FISH and RT-PCR. Ultimately concluding that more than one method is needed to accurately diagnose patients due to the strengths and weaknesses of each individual method.
